The client wanted to build a small development at the rear of the site they already owned.
We began work with them at the planning stage to achieve permission to construct a building consisting of a first-floor flat and B1 (Business) unit on the ground floor with car parking and bin storage.
The key criteria for this build was to achieve the best quality of build at a competitive price. This began before even breaking ground with consideration given to foundation options/steel for the structure options for best thermal performance. The building was a contemporary structure with a zinc roof and composite face cladding on the first-floor elevations.
This was the first time (not the last!) we were required to fit a sprinkler system in a new building, something we expect to see a lot more of in the future.
Alongside this project, we worked with the same client to convert the vacant office unit at the front of the site into two studio apartments to rent out.
